4th Group Shoot – 07/09/08
The 4th group shoot was held in September at Rookery House in Erdington, Birmingham. It was a quirky old country house which was a little run down. There was an eclectic mix of rooms and corridors, including “the DANGER room” which was an old storage room with broken windows and bits of wood and metal everywhere, which of course meant that most of the photographers were flocked towards it.
Some people even explored the grounds of the house which is located in a park. The most unusual find of the day was 4 miniature dogs in camo outfits being walked by a man who had a lot of tattoos! As you can imagine, the dogs got involved in some shots with one model and even the guy got photographed.

I’m liking what you are doing here Rich, good stuff.
At long last, strobists in the UK!!!
I am so envious of you guys that I want to start a similar group in the Southwest.
Can’t afford pocket wizards so use the John Camera Shop wireless trigger from Hong Kong costing 14 dollars. Yesterday I adapted it to fire my Canon 400D from 50 metres away using this cheapo wireless facility! Will put all the info on midsomersetcameraclub.org so more strobists can try it out. Love your locations and especially the resulting photos – incredible!
Keep up all the brilliant work you are doing. Keith.
Hi fellow strobists – I have been successful in starting up a Stobists group in the southwest, Yeovil in south Somerset. Fired up a Strobist’s blog two months ago, obviously inspired by yours and the American one, it’s called YeoPhotoGroup. There are over twenty techniques, gadgets and how to do it articles concerned with hotshoe flashguns which I’ve been using for thirty years.
!5,000 photos caving and underground gave me an enormouse kick-start into flash photography.
Okay so we’re not up to the huge photo shoots you guys seem able to organise, but we’ll get there. Anyone reading this and lives in the southwest can reach me via yeophotogroup – you’ll have to Google it in as I can’t place the address here. Several of the posts have a link to my email address.
Keep up the flashing and hope to meet up one day – Keith.
